What's the difference between closed cell and open cell foam?

Closed cell cures hard and rigid, has a higher R-value per millimetre and isn't water permeable. Open cell cures soft, fills cavities and helps dampen sound, but is water permeable and used for interior applications.

Where can spray foam be used?

Common areas include underfloors, roofs, ceilings, walls, under slabs, sheds and workshops. We also insulate commercial buildings, shipping containers, mining camps, tanks and pipework.

What R-value can spray foam achieve?

We install spray foam from R1 to R8, depending on the product and thickness. Your climate, the area and the build type determine the right target.

Is spray foam safe to use in a building?

Once cured, the foam is non-hazardous and free of formaldehyde and asbestos. It must be installed by licensed applicators wearing PPE while it's airborne, so people stay clear during application and return when the installer advises it's safe.

Is spray foam fire rated?

Spray foam is generally classified as a combustible material under the NCC, and fire performance is specific to the tested product and configuration. Ask us for the data sheet that applies to your project, and read our fire performance page for more detail.
