Why is Spray Foam Superior for Sheds & Workshops

Closed-cell spray foam insulation is the best performing insulation because it sprays and sticks directly to the substrate giving you:

Complete air sealing

Superior thermal value

Moisture control

Noise reduction

Structural support

What is Polyurethane Spray Foam?

Polyurethane Spray Foam is a type of insulation material that is commonly used in the construction industry for its insulating properties and ability to seal gaps, cracks, and voids in buildings.

Here's a detailed breakdown:

  1. Composition: Polyurethane foam is derived from a combination of two primary components: isocyanate and polyol. When these two components are mixed together in the presence of specific catalysts and blowing agents, they react chemically and expand, forming a foam.

  2. Types: There are two main types of polyurethane spray foam:

    • Open-cell foam: This type has a lower density and is softer. It is more permeable to air and moisture. It's recommended for use in interior applications.

    • Closed-cell foam: This type has a higher density and is more rigid. It provides a higher R-value (thermal resistance) per inch than open-cell foam and acts as a moisture and vapor barrier. It's often used in exterior applications or areas where higher insulation values or strength are needed.

  3. Applications: Polyurethane spray foam is widely used in a variety of applications, including:

    • Insulating walls, roofs, and floors

    • Sealing gaps and cracks to prevent drafts

    • Soundproofing

    • Enhancing structural integrity

    • Preventing moisture infiltration

    • Includes Fire Retardants meeting Building Code Australian requirements
